The Civil War In Color
Hi, guys:
Ever wondered what the Civil War looked like
in color? Check out the attachment.
This is an 1864 daguerrotype, probably by
Mathew Brady, of some Union officers lounging in front of their tent. It has
been digitally colorized so it looks like a modern still photograph. Okay, a
wee bit artificial-looking,
colors a little too sharp,
maybe—but if you didn’t already know?
The curly blonde lounging on the ground at
right is Colonel George Armstrong Custer. Twelve years later, he would utter
those immortal last words: “I never so saw many goddamned Indians in my life!”
