Deep In The Heart of Texas

Someone e-mailed me asking for a comment on the Texas "polygamy cult compound" situation, and the acts of mass judicial kidnapping and total violation of the most basic premises of these people's First, Fourth, and Fifth amendment rights. I have no sympathy for them.

Do they not know by now that the State determines what the correct religion is, and how they may practice it? If not, they are the only people in the USA who don't. Protestant Reformation my ass. God and Scripture is now whatever the hell Caesar and the established churches say it is.

Did these weirdos learn nothing from the lash laid across their back at Ruby Ridge or Waco, wherein it was conclusively demonstrated by our Lords and Masters that persons practicing politically incorrect (or heretical, if one prefers the traditional terminology) religious beliefs will not be allowed to opt out of the System? (Viz. California recently outlawing home schooling, etc.)

These people's children will be taken away from them and given to good and proper shoutin' Baptist families who watch Pat Robertson and the 700 Club every day, and their parents will be sent to prison where they can have their brains washed squeaky clean. Amen.

Sounds like 'It Takes a Village' from your novels.
