Blocked Blogs
Hi HAC,Just went to my local library, where I can look at videos like Percy Weller without having to wait hours for my dialup to load them at home.
The librarians seem to take a lot of pride in resisting censorship and carry such drivel as the latest Harry Potter novels, in spite of the heavily ( insert favorite fundamentalist group here) population. Every once in a while the county library administration sends an IT 'person' who dutifully goes to each of the terminals, looks at what sites people are visiting and then blocks them, if (genderless noun) thinks the local kids shouldn't be looking at it.
Usually the block is applied to the raft of myspace pages kids save to a favorites folder, stuff like that, but is applied to individual pages and this person goes to each one and makes a decision whether or not to block it, based on (genderless noun)'s personal preferences . . . and politics, I'd say.
That happened yesterday, and of course most, if not all, of the other (inane) blogspot links are fully functional - but both of yours were blocked. Had to get a new librarian to enter the password so I could read them.
Wonder what's next, a midnight visit from the Secret Library Police?

The problem is the same here in Ireland. Even the most rural library will have 'racist' sites blocked.
