Democracy Sucks

Has anyone besides me noticed that "democracy" seems designed to ensure that good people lose with good grace to the wealthy and dishonest assholes who have stacked the whole deck from square one?

No man it's not like that, at least in India it ain't. Here in India wealthy and dishonest assholes lose to wealthy and dishonest assholes. At least we can push those wealthy and dishonest assholes out of power to get a new wealthy and dishonest to power.

Democracy that is MANIPULATED by the wealthy assholes is NOT Democracy at all.

Democracy has rightfully been called "tyranny of the majority", as well it should be.

Democracy is NOT the way to run a country, and the reason why can be summed up in a great analogy:

"Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner."
(I would quote the originator of this comment, but I don't know who it was)

While that analogy usually elicits a little chuckle, it is EXACTLY the danger inherent in democracy- "Mob justice".

The most effective form of government is the Republican form of government- not that espoused by the "Republican Party", mind you, but the true form of republican government. A government where the people have rights (which, by the way, cannot be removed by a "democratic majority" if they vote on it), but can vote on other things that are important to them (but don't interfere with their basic rights which are inherent and inseparable).

"It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried."-Winston Churchill

The democracy being criticised in this article is a rule of might, not a rule of law (remember, the nazis said might makes right).

For instance, if it were put to vote, I'm sure many americans would decide to redistribute Buffett's $60 bil among them, for a couple thousand per person, stress-free! However, since robust property LAWS protect him, the Oracle of Omaha sleeps easy.
Simply put, democracy +robust law enforcement+individual liberty=freedom.

Since the title of this blog is "thoughtcrime", let me commit the ultimate "thoughtcrime" (at least in the U.S.) and suggest that the best form of government is not a "republic" but a constitutional monarchy--meaning a system in which the head of state is under the rule of law but chosen by some kind of hereditary principle.

In every form of republic--including our own--the top dog gets his/her position because of personal ambition and a desire for power. You cannot realistically expect such people to observe limitations on their power once in office. In a constitutional monarchy, on the other hand, the person holding the top spot owes his/her position simply to a fortunate birth. In my humble opinion, if we want to keep our freedom, the latter system is much better, since it does not filter out those who lack an inordinate desire for power.
